KMAD & KMAD.COM Kmad was founded in 1994 by the highly respected ex-professional dancer and actress Kelsey Middleton. Its reputation is one of providing quality contemporary dance training and has been doing so for the past 18 years. Kmad is affiliated with DanceCor which provides the syllabus for its training. Kmad students have had a 100% pass rate in all their dance examinations. Along with technique training, Kmad provides training in body conditioning, group work, stage craft and nurtures choreographic kills. In 2002 Kmad.com, the professional dance company was formed. This proudly South African contemporary dance company has successfully inspired dancers, choreographers and audiences around the country for the past 10 years! Kelsey's passion and drive for establishing a beacon in South African contemporary dance has given hope and joy to hundreds of young, talented South African dancers. She has succeeded in giving opportunities to professional and semi-professional dancers through performances on a national and corporate platform. Kelsey is all about her spirited persistence in providing WORK for professional dancers and giving trainees every opportunity and possible to grow to become the most diverse and excellent dancers that this country needs. Kelsey's personal commitment to growth in dance has made her one of the most inventive personalities to work with in the industry, ensuring that Kmad.com remains a relevant and recognized force in the South African dance world today. GRADUATE PROGRAM This unique Graduate Program was designed to nurture and mentor young contemporary dancers within the context of a Professional Dance Company. The course will equip you with the necessary tools, enabling you to take charge of your own career within the industry. Within this Graduate year, dancers are introduced to the artistic styles and technical standards required as well as the cultural environment within which excellence, versatility, camaraderie, passion and energy form the heartbeat of the corps. Further information is available on request. OPEN CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS These are open to everyone! Open classes change on a weekly basis. Stay updated via our weekly schedule sent via e-mail or join us at www.facebook.com/dance . DANCECOR GRADE EXAMINATION CLASSES DanceCor grade classes are offered in the afternoons. These are modern dance examination classes. DanceCor classes include classical and modern techniques, jazz, body conditioning and music theory. Classes are limited to a maximum of 10 students per class. OUTREACH Kmad runs an outreach program in Mamelodi West where we train young underprivileged children to dance. These children are included in our Kmad seasons where they are given the opportunity to perform on stage with the rest of our students. Kmad.com also opens dress rehearsals to orphaned children and the elderly.
